Brenda Whittle

Brenda turned 9 this month. Amanda did her hair up all fancy and took some pictures of her. She is turning into quite a young lady.

Remembering a Veteran

Last year my neighbor's husband died. He was a Marine who served in Iraq. She also works, office work, for the Armed Forces. She wanted a valance for her office, which is in her house. I made the valance out of her husband's uniform. I also recovered the bench, with his brown uniform.

It Was A Great Run

One of the other parents of a runner sent me these pictures of Amanda running at State.

Amanda did great at State. She ran 3.1 miles in 22:30. It was nice of Nathan to come down and watch her run. The team placed 5th in the 2A division.

Racing for the finish line.We went to the cross country banquet tonight. Amanda getting an award from her coach (Wes Player). She received several recognitions. These are the freshmen on the team. All three went to state. Amanda went as a varsity runner, Lexi - one of Amanda's good friends and fiercest competator- went as an alternate, and Selena - another good friend- as an alternate alternate, so to speak.

Halloween

We went out to the Schicks for Halloween. They had a big carnaval type party with treats and hayrides.

Brenda, Jason and two of the Schicks daughters.

Principal Pride

Todd got Principal Pride. Here he is receiving it from Principal Bonnie Bantis.
This is his favorite look when I try to take his picture. Jeff is in the background.

Pumpkin Lane

The Saturday before Halloween Deer Park has something called pumpkin lane. The kids get dressed up and go Trick-or-treating from business to business for a two hour period. It's lots of fun. There must have been about 3 to 4 hundred people roaming around town all dressed up.

Kevin came along to help.
Yokes paid Amanda to pass out candy for them just inside the door.

Amanda makes State

I know this is impossible to read. One of Amanda's teammates collapsed during the race at Districts because she was sick. She is their fastest runner and would have come in first if she had finished. So instead of coming in 1st they came in second. Amanda said that they hadn't even been sure if they would place high enough to go to state. The paper reports this: "DP scored 67, placing three in the tip six. First-time varsity runner Amanda Whittle's 30th-place finish helped the stags." So Amanda will be running at State for Deer Park High School, as a Freshman, this coming Saturday.

Fall is here

My little tree put on its fall colors.

Working on Brenda's Smile

I took Brenda to the Orthodontist. Her mouth is too small. They had 4 baby teeth pulled to make room for the teeth behind and some time next year we will have to have an extender put in her mouth that will gradually widen her jaw. Fun times.
